A trial opens Monday, November 2 in one of the biggest criminal cases, almost forty years after the discovery of the body of a child along the highway in August 1987. The residents wanted to file a civil suit to support the woman who became one of their own. The affair gave rise to an extraordinary investigation marked by the questioning of 6,000 people and the visit of 65,000 schools. For the first time in France, 135,000 calls for witnesses are posted across the country.

The mayor and his residents have continued to follow the investigation over the decades, considering the opening of this body as a deliverance. “At the beginning, she was a little one who, for us, had a family who would quickly claim her,” said a witness.

As their trial opens on Monday, November 2, the residents wanted to become civil parties and provide a little more support for a little girl who has become one of their own.

An extraordinary investigation then begins: 6,000 people are questioned and 65,000 schools visited and, for the first time, 135,000 calls for witnesses are posted all over the country.

A little girl of four years old, remained anonymous for three decades, but adopted and looked after by her inhabitants.

This is a deliverance for the inhabitants of this battered and long-suffering village.

“At the beginning, she was a little one who, for us, had a family who would quickly claim her.
