The President of the Republic will solemnly address the French at 8 p.m. on Sunday October 18, announced the Elysée, the day after the violence and massive looting on the sidelines of the October 17 demonstrations.
Before that, the Head of State will bring together at 5:30 p.m. at the Elysée Palace the Prime Minister and the government ministers concerned, according to the announcement from the Presidency of the Republic.
This sequence comes as the government finds itself under pressure from oppositions and certain mayors regarding the management of Saturday's demonstrations.
Despite these events, the President of the Republic has at this stage maintained his trip from Monday to Wednesday to four Gulf countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar.
