Professionals in the catering, hotel and mass distribution sectors declared on Sunday that they refused to be"releasers"and condemned the violence and looting that occurred on the sidelines of the demonstrations against the high cost of living on October 17.
Believing that they are"on the front line"in the face of this"unacceptable"violence, the representatives of these sectors refuse to allow their businesses and employees to become collateral victims.
The day of demonstrations had serious consequences for many businesses throughout the country, with the Federation of Commerce and Distribution (FCD) condemning in the strongest terms the damage and looting.
It was still too early to give precise figures on the impact on the activity of the hotels and restaurants concerned, many establishments having had to close in anticipation of the demonstrations or having seen their activity slow down.
