The UNPPD denounces the fact that French laboratories are strictly controlled as to the composition of their prostheses, while products from Chinese competitors are rarely subject to certification. This situation raises many questions about the composition of these imported prostheses, which can nevertheless be reimbursed by Health Insurance within the framework of 100% health.
More than 30% of dental prostheses used in France currently come from China, according to information from France Info. The dental technicians' union warns that this figure could reach 50% by 2030 without measures to preserve national production.
Faced with this competition, nearly 1,000 French dental prosthesis laboratories have already closed their doors. Furthermore, since 2021, certain dental procedures have been subject to price caps to allow patients to benefit from care fully reimbursed by Health Insurance.
