The facts date back to an intervention where, very quickly, the tone rose and the situation worsened. On the video that he himself filmed of his arrest, the father, pinned to the ground on his stomach with his helmet on his head, repeated I'm suffocating nine times for 13 seconds, without being heard by the police.
One of the agents said in his memory that he passed his right forearm under the helmet, being careful not to exert too much pressure. He added that Cédric Chouviat's discomfort, noted by his two colleagues after he was handcuffed to the ground, had plunged him into a state of astonishment.
Christian Chouviat, father of Cédric, expressed his anger in the premises of the LDH. Surrounded by the family, he questioned the non-voluntary nature of the actions and summarized his pain by declaring: And I will die with it.
This trial comes while the holding of the hearing still remains uncertain. The defense requested a postponement, while the family's lawyers intend to immediately plead the incompetence of the court, considering that the facts are of a criminal nature and fall within the jurisdiction of the Assize Court.
The family's lawyers and those of the defense alike believe that the duration of the debates, scheduled for two half-days, is largely insufficient.
