Beauvau recalls that 227 actions had been counted on October 31 (320,000 people), 289 on October 24 (410,000 participants) and 430 on October 17 (550,000 participants). The CGT places November 5 clearly above the October mobilizations, while the Interior Ministry retains a level comparable to that of October 17.
The Interior Ministry reports some 575,000 demonstrators, including 65,000 in Paris.
They tried to make the processions degenerate and/or to enter forbidden perimeters and notably city centers that were particularly protected by internal security forces.
The authorities emphasize the generally calm character of the declared processions, while noting overflow attempts attributed to radical groups in several major cities.
The Interior Ministry also cites a certain number of incidents that occurred in the morning in the context of the high-school student movement.
Participation figures diverge strongly between the CGT and Beauvau, as during previous action days.
