At around 5.30pm on November 1, a bomb dropped on Yo Chaung Bridge in Kyauktaw Township killed seven people and injured seven others.

Five people, including a newborn baby, were killed and nine others injured in a further incident. Nearby, the bodies of a man and two women were seen. One side of a building where patients’ families were staying had partially collapsed.

In one strike, aircraft dropped a bomb followed by an incendiary bomb, killing six civilians and injuring eleven others. The following morning the junta carried out another airstrike against a different displacement camp.

The military junta has targeted places where large numbers of people gather, including markets, schools, hospitals, monasteries and weddings, rather than military sites.

Since a recent appointment, the military has deployed multiple fighter jets against the same target and made widespread use of double-tap strikes.

That tactic involves a second attack shortly after the first, often hitting people who have rushed to help the wounded.

Teams monitor military aircraft takeoffs because the planes cannot be detected by radar.

Areas hit in the attacks include locations where displaced people live.

The first report of an aircraft from that base flying over Kyauktaw at 12.10pm local time was not published until 12.13pm, even though local reports said two bombs fell between 12.10pm and 12.14pm.
