The adaptation of Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin stories first appeared on the streaming service in 2021. The character, now 119 years old in print, is suave, mysterious and cunning, and repeatedly outwits the police.
The writing, ensemble cast and Sy’s charm have made the show widely watched. Critics have called it one of the most ambitious and successful screen versions of the character to date.
The series is based on the adventures of Arsène Lupin, conceived by the French author Maurice Leblanc. In the books, Lupin flits in and out of strangers’ lives.
If viewers have not caught up with the French caper, they are missing a twisty, charming thriller, according to coverage of the series.
Season four opens with the hero facing public notoriety, a nemesis with a grudge and nobody in his corner.
The first three seasons told one long, protracted story with ever-increasing stakes.
