To prevent the mobilization on Saturday October 24 from resembling that of last Saturday, the government is promising a massive security system. The authorities thus intend to respond to scenes of violence marked by overwhelmed law enforcement in the face of highly mobile groups who have simultaneously looted and broken in many places.
The measure aims to regain control after incidents that occurred in broad daylight, illustrated in particular by the testimony of a shopkeeper who was looted last Saturday at six o'clock in the afternoon. The Minister of the Interior also asks the prefects to prohibit demonstrations whose security cannot be guaranteed.
On the tactical level, the government is announcing an upgrade of the system with the deployment of more mobile units. The idea is to have units trained to carry out rapid arrests, known as the “jump over” method.
