Dawson and a teammate recently compiled an unbroken 89-run stand that set a new record for the highest 10th-wicket partnership in a successful chase. That milestone arrived just three days after England's bowlers were unable to defend 429 against Sri Lanka.

Dawson insisted he is not drawing any conclusions from usurping Adil Rashid in his role in Pakistan. He praised Rashid as a fantastic bowler who has been exceptional for England and will continue to be.

The team's frontline spinner reflected on the broader value of the recent tri-series fixtures. He stated that if the side reaches similar situations in a year's time and banks on their previous experiences, they will look back at the tri-series as a huge positive.

Reflecting on his return to the international setup, Dawson noted that players are desperate to do well for the side. He added that every time he gets to play for England is a really special thing.

For more than a decade, Rashid has been one of the first names on England's team-sheet in white-ball formats. He currently needs 26 more dismissals to become England's all-time leading one-day wicket-taker.

Liam Dawson said the England changing room is gutted following their recent one-day international series setback. The 36-year-old admitted he previously thought he would not play for England again until a year or so ago.
