In her report on the major balances, adopted in committee on 4 November, the senator from Hauts-de-Seine is extremely critical of the government's budgetary strategy.
The Senate report lists more reasons to think that growth will not take off any more next year than the reverse. One recalls the 2023 budgetary accident, when revenues failed to materialize.
The 1% growth forecast retained by the executive to underpin revenues seems to her “out of touch.” The macroeconomic scenario is, according to her, “too optimistic.” The report warns: the “noose of debt is tightening.” An “unfavorable snowball effect is to be feared for 2027,” a phenomenon of debt spiraling until it is out of control.
On the spending side, “that is more where the shoe pinches,” according to the rapporteur, who contradicts the government when it claims to have made the freeze on State spending the rule.
