While a mobilization comes after several weeks of blocking of high schools, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) records each month the prices of the products in a typical food basket.
These baskets, monitored for years by INSEE, make it possible to closely monitor the evolution of the food cost index, which has increased by almost 35 points in ten years.
Between August 2016 and August 2026, the average cost of these products in mainland France increased by 112 points.
The INSEE basket of fruit vegetables, which includes cucumbers, eggplants, tomatoes, squash and other fruits used as vegetables, sees its cost fluctuate depending on the seasons.
