The day of mobilization on October 17 brought together between 550,000 people, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, and 800,000 according to the organizers. The movement was punctuated in several cities by violent clashes and numerous lootings, including the town hall of Limoges destroyed by a violent fire.

La Fage, the first student organization in France to call for joining the mobilization, believes that the keys to appeasement are in the hands of the government. Its president warns that a response solely on the security aspect will not allow the movement to run out of steam, given the thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people mobilized in the streets, and affirms that the protest will not run out of steam with the school holidays.

The organization calls on Matignon to react and open their eyes to the fact that it is no longer just a high school movement. In Marseille, the day after the mobilization, demonstrators regretted the excesses which made their demands invisible, while Fage insisted on the urgency of a concrete response to stop the movement.
