US President Donald Trump called Ukraine's renewed strikes on Russian oil refineries a disgrace after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected his calls for an energy ceasefire. Trump told broadcaster Newsmax that the strikes were driving up global energy prices.
The US leader took aim at Zelensky, asserting that he was less willing than Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach a compromise to end the war, stating he found Zelensky to be more difficult to deal with than Putin. Zelensky sought support from European allies earlier that day in Brussels on the sidelines of an EU summit, meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk suggested that slowdowns in the Starlink system used for battlefield communications and frontline logistics were caused by Trump and the US military. In addition, Russia's defence ministry said on Telegram that its military hit a logistics facility in Ukraine's Odesa region and a cargo vessel en route to Odesa, alleging they were used for military purposes.
