Have you ever thought about retiring from the National Choreographic Center of Aix-en-Provence, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025? For the moment, I am not thinking about it at all.
This creation is part of the career of one of the most sought-after choreographers in major companies and star of contemporary dance, whose missions consist in particular of uncovering and helping emerging talents.
The author of the choreography explains that he was inspired by movements observed over the past two years around the planet, emerging with power and spontaneity like geysers, to depict bodies that move and rise.
The show does not aim to illustrate a particular movement, but to be part of a contemporary history marked by uprisings which constituted social victories and contributed to important achievements.
What interests the choreographer is to show the beauty of uprisings, that is to say the force which unites and brings together individuals in the face of injustice and in the face of what outrages them.
The idea conveyed through these images is to restore the happiness of having fought and having obtained success, justice and social equity.
The goal of this creation is not to show violence or chaos, nor to focus on the struggle itself.
What were your first missions and what are your ambitions? Our missions are to uncover and help emerging talents in choreography, so we created prizes, scholarships, residencies and every year, we meet to study files and applications from young choreographers who have projects.
