In its press release published Tuesday, October 20, the prefecture announced that several hundred hostile individuals attempted for nearly three hours to force the blockades set up to protect the shopping streets of downtown Amiens on Saturday afternoon.
Videos widely relayed on social networks, however, show several CRS vans parked in front of the chocolate factory famous for its macarons, located a few meters from Place Gambetta, in the city center of Amiens.
As a result, a CRS company rushed to Amiens in order to reinforce the local workforce in the evening and ensure the security of all businesses in the city center.
The press release from the prefecture constitutes a direct response to the Alliance police union which demands explanations on this system.
The Somme prefecture denies the allegation according to which CRS personnel were dedicated to protecting the Trogneux store, owned by Brigitte Macron's family, during the day of demonstration on October 17.
