The Center Pompidou Francilien, a new conservation, exhibition and creation center located in Massy to the south of Paris, will be revealed to the public over three weekends in the fall before its official opening in March.
The 30,000 square meter building, currently empty, will welcome the first visitors on the weekends of October 17 and 18, October 24 and 25, then October 31 and November 1, he announced Monday October 12.
Started in 2018, the project required an investment of 105 million euros excluding taxes. The opening in March will make it possible to repatriate the 150,000 works from the Center Pompidou collection, which constitutes the most important modern and contemporary art in Europe.
According to Xavier Rey, the objective is also to streamline loans, while some 6,000 works are loaned each year by the Center Pompidou, half of which are abroad.
