The PS mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, estimated that the toll of the violence committed on Saturday October 17 on the sidelines of the demonstrations in his city would be heavy and of immense scale, affirming that entire streets were methodically ravaged.
He wanted to differentiate between the social movement and thugs for whom he has no indulgence, denouncing in particular the fact that there is no reason that can justify setting fires at the foot of residential buildings.
Emmanuel Grégoire said he was fully mobilized to commit resources to repair, clean and put the city back in order as quickly as possible.
