Storm Boelo is moving away from the UK following a weekend of heavy downpours and severe gales, allowing conditions to turn temporarily calmer after a breezy start to Monday. However, the disturbed weather pattern will continue into the half term week as another deep area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic.
A weather front could bring rain back into western parts on Friday, but high pressure is then expected to rebuild close to the UK from midweek onwards. Most computer weather models suggest that the weather should gradually calm down, bringing a drier and calmer spell over the weekend and into next week.
The Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for Tuesday as another area of low pressure passes close to the north-west UK. Yellow wind warnings are in place covering both of these areas starting from Monday evening into late Tuesday evening.
The Met Office warning suggests that there is a low risk of significant impacts, with the chance of travel disruption, power cuts, damage to buildings and some flying debris.
Winds will strengthen once again during the day, bringing widespread gusts of 30-40mph alongside 50mph gusts in many coastal areas and reaching up to 65mph in some locations. As this system moves into north-west areas of the UK during Monday and Tuesday, it will bring another dose of rain and gales.
