RC Lens was beaten on its lawn at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium by Sporting (2-0), Tuesday October 13, during the second day of the Champions League league phase.
Facing the Portuguese and Rui Borges' players, the Artésiens conceded their first European defeat of the season. Lacking accuracy, the Lensois suffered the second defeat in their history only at home in the Champions League.
The Sang et Or bowed to an adversary that was the worst enemy of the French in Europe, undefeated since the start of the season and who had already brought down Lille, Marseille and even Paris, making his experience of these European games speak for themselves.
The Lensois will return to the C1 pitches next week, in Bruges, to try to restart the machine.
