In the 2023-24 season Foden scored 27 goals, a career high. That form had previously kept him in the international picture.
Foden’s comments put the onus on continued club performances while he waits for any approach from the England staff. No further discussion with Tuchel was described.
The red card and ban interrupted his club campaign. He framed the time out as a reset rather than a setback.
Tuchel had not been in touch since the World Cup, Foden revealed, to talk through what the manager wished to see from him.
Foden said the break had done him good. “Obviously, I had the unfortunate red against United but the break did me good, I came back fresh and sharp,” he said. He added that he was working on being in the right positions. “Being in the right positions and hopefully I can get back to that level now,” Foden said.
On England, he said: “Hopefully, one day the call-up might come back. You have to try your best, keep putting on performances.”.
