Hérault and Gard will be placed on orange alert for a risk of rain, flooding and thunderstorms, from Monday October 19 at 2 p.m., according to an announcement from Météo-France published Sunday October 18.
This meteorological situation is favored by a cold drop coming from Spain, which leads to stormy rises. Hail and thunderstorms could also occur during this episode.
Temporarily sustained rain, reaching 40 to 60 mm, with up to 70 mm possible in less than an hour, is forecast. Wind gusts of around 60 to 80 km/h are also expected.
The French meteorologist specifies:"A new Mediterranean rainy-stormy episode sets in during the day on Monday, initially affecting mainly Hérault and Gard, and more to the west of Bouches-du-Rhône".
