A demonstration was declared for Saturday in the capital by several yellow vests, with the participation of unions for a route going from the Place de l'Opéra to the Place de la Bastille.
The Interfac general assembly wanted a procession linking Place de la République to Place de la Concorde, but this route was refused by the police headquarters which cited serious risks of disturbances to public order.
In order to reconcile the freedom to demonstrate and the safety of all, the prefecture proposed an alternative route linking Place de Clichy to Place de la République, or linking République to Nation depending on the sources.
However, this alternative was not validated by the organization, leaving uncertainty surrounding the route that the demonstrators will choose on Saturday October 17.
