European Union leaders are meeting on Thursday (October 15) in Brussels for a summit during which they will discuss ways to curb Chinese exports, rising energy prices and the bloc's budget.
Discussions are expected to focus on ways to slow Chinese exports, rising energy prices and the bloc's budget. A draft summit conclusion shows that leaders will ask the EU executive to continue dialogue with Beijing while using EU trade defense measures and putting in place new tools to further protect the bloc.
EU leaders will also discuss the bloc's next multi-year budget, which funds all of its policies, pays its officials and provides aid to Ukraine, in particular, and which is traditionally one of the most heated subjects in Brussels. The issue of energy prices is also on the agenda, and consensus is needed for the budget to be adopted.
