The Frenchman Arthur Fils and the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz were eliminated in the third round of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, Monday October 12, after being beaten respectively by the Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp and the Belgian Zizou Bergs.
Currently 11th in the world, Arthur Fils lost in two sets (7-5, 6-4) against Van de Zandschulp. This defeat means he misses a great opportunity to earn points for the ATP Finals in Turin, even if he could still gain a place in the ATP rankings next Monday to find himself 10th.
For his part, Carlos Alcaraz, third in the world, fell against Zizou Bergs, 27, who achieved the greatest performance of his career. The 23-year-old Spaniard remained on a streak of eleven consecutive victories and one defeat since his return from injury at the end of August at the US Open.
