A major rescue system was urgently deployed on the evening of Thursday, October 15 near the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in Coquelles, in Pas-de-Calais, after a minibus carrying heavy goods vehicle drivers collided with a freight train stopped on a platform.
A few minutes before the collision, heavy goods vehicle drivers had followed the usual procedure by depositing their vehicles in a shuttle before boarding a minibus to join another shuttle carrying passengers.
It was on this route that the minibus hit the stationary freight train, causing a surprising collision for a heavy goods vehicle driver used to the scene.
