A man in his 20s was pronounced dead on Sunday in north London after a falling tree hit the car he was driving. Northern Ireland recorded its strongest gust of wind at 78mph on Saturday in Orlock Head, County Down.

The disturbed weather pattern will continue into the half term week as another deep area of low pressure brings more strong winds later on Monday and through to Tuesday. The Met Office has issued another weather warning for later this week, which will move quickly north-eastwards to reach central, eastern and northern England, as well as most of Scotland, by around lunchtime.

The severe weather caused flooding and property damage, prompting a clean-up operation in parts of the UK. Travel disruption continued on Monday, and some schools in Scotland were shut due to a lack of power, heating, water or damage.

According to the Met Office warning, there is a low risk of significant impacts, with the chance of travel disruption, power cuts, damage to buildings and some flying debris.

Boelo is the second storm to hit parts of the UK in recent days, following Storm Austen which brought similar levels of disruption.

Reflecting on the severity of the event, an official noted: 'It's the first time anything like this has happened, it's very serious.'.

Storm Boelo left around 90,000 properties without power after battering Scotland and northern England with strong winds.
