A fire is underway at Limoges town hall, notably destroying its roof after an attack perpetrated by a group of individuals. The campanile, the architectural tower symbol of the town hall, could be in danger according to the information reported.
This violence occurred at the end of the demonstration on Saturday October 17, in which several thousand people participated. Hooded individuals first burned a municipal police car in front of the building before breaking windows to enter and set fire.
From a distance, hundreds of people watched the blaze, distraught. This mobilization of October 17 was punctuated by violence in several cities in France, including tensions in Paris and intrusions at Lille town hall.
