A powerful fire ravaged the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered market in the capital, located in the historic Marais district in the heart of Paris, in the night from Sunday, October 11 to Monday, October 12.
The mayor of Paris Centre, Ariel Weil, announced the blaze and shared a photo showing several fire trucks at the scene. Thick, glowing smoke lit up the Paris sky as flames consumed the counters.
Classified as a historic monument, the market has become a renowned hall over time, popular with local residents and tourists.
