Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, two French professors, were detained in Iran for 1,277 days, from May 2022 to November 2025.
Arrested as they were finishing a tourist trip, they experienced nearly four years of confinement, isolation and uncertainty in a country shaken by demonstrations, repression and war, unwillingly becoming pawns in a negotiation between States.
The magazine “Envoyé Spécial” recounts this hostage-taking through the testimonies of the two teachers, their relatives, diplomats, journalists and key players in the affair.
The hostages relate in particular"white torture", a method of the Iranian regime intended to"break the spirit"and which drives people to madness.
